Grape Varieties 100% Louriero from biodynamic vineyards located in the sub region of Lima (Ponte de Lima)
The producer Tiago Sampaio, established his label in 2007, having completed his PhD in Oregon. Tiago is an advocate for sustainable viticulture and the production of natural wines in the Douro. He cultivates vineyards between 500-700m – a mix of inherited old field blend vineyards and new plantings, where the boundary pusher has planted Alvarinho and Tinta Francisca.
Winemaking Foot trodden in lagars and macerated for three days. No SO₂ added. Fermented begins in stainless steel tanks followed by ageing in cement eggs and used chestnut barrels. No fining and no filtration.
Tasting notes Lemon drops and lavender on the nose. Citrus fruits and creme fraiche on the palate. That touch of lees contact lends some weight and creaminess, but the fruit has enough zippy acidity to provide levity.
