Winemaking Quinta da Gricha is 100% produced from the old vineyards at Quinta da Gricha. It is the ultimate expression of a terroir wine from the Douro. The grapes are fully destemmed and crushed. After 4 days of cold maceration, the fermentation process follows under temperature-controlled conditions. The juice is gently pumped over the skins during fermentation which is long and even ensuring good aromatic and polyphenolic extraction. 100% of this wine is aged for 12-15 months in new 500 lts French oak casks. It is fined and lightly filtered before bottling.
Tasting notes This wine has a bright and rich garnet colour. Lovely floral blackberry, tar and sweet dark cherry on the nose; also with distinctive mineral notes. On the palate firm blackberry and plumb. Excellent purity of fruit with some savoury complexity. Very well balanced and elegant with a long lingering finish.
Food pairing Red meat dishes like beef fillet, roasted lamb or seared duck breast
Serving recommendations Best decanted at least two hours before service. Serve at room temperature (16-18ºC).
